Position Title: Data Center Technician II (S3)Location: Austin, TX Clearance Requirements: None Position Status: Contract (6 Months) Pay Rate: Depend on experience Position Description We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician II to support enterprise-scale data center operations, including server hardware, networking, and infrastructure deployments. As a key member of the data center operations team, you will be responsible for hardware lifecycle management, troubleshooting, documentation, and ensuring systems meet performance, safety, and service-level standards. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, stage, start up, and decommission data center hardware, including servers, racks, storage devices, and network switches. Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify root causes and resolve hardware, OS, or network issues efficiently. Replace faulty components and execute hardware refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) with minimal operational impact. Validate cabling, labeling, grounding, and equipment setup in accordance with deployment standards and safety requirements. Support new deployments and provide real-time issue resolution in production environments. Monitor server fleet health and assist with failure analysis and trend identification to support SLA compliance. Document processes, troubleshooting steps, and lessons learned to contribute to knowledge bases and SOPs. Communicate effectively with team members and leadership, escalating incidents as needed. Meet or exceed KPIs and SLAs by completing tickets accurately and efficiently. Adhere to all safety protocols, participate in required training, and promote a culture of safety and accountability. Collaborate with geographically distributed teams while maintaining the ability to work independently. Required Skills / Education 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Center Technician or similar infrastructure support role. Strong knowledge of server hardware components and system-level failure scenarios. Experience with IPMI tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Proficiency administering Windows Server OS and WinPE environments. Working knowledge of network troubleshooting (Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3). Experience with firmware updates, diagnostics tools, and deployment testing. Basic scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python). Familiarity with virtual machine setup and environment configuration. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team-based environment. Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred. CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Server+ (or equivalent experience). CCENT or equivalent networking experience. Preferred Qualifications CCNA certification MCP or MCSE certification Experience with Linux PXE services Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and use rolling stairs safely. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
