Salary: $18.00 Hourly Location : Upper Marlboro, MD Job Type: Seasonal Job Number: PT.PMW.26 Department: PGC Parks and Recreation Division: Natural and Historical Res Opening Date: 02/12/2026 Closing Date: 3/15/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Description Patuxent River Park is seeking a part time Park General Maintenance Worker to perform general park maintenance work as part of a small group involving moderate responsibility, complexity, and variety. The successful candidate will perform general grounds and trail maintenance, custodial work, landscaping, and routine building maintenance. This position will work Sunday through Wednesday OR Wednesday through Saturday 6:00am to 2:30pm. Applicants must be flexible, cooperative and have a positive attitude. For more information about the Seasonal Hiring process and application status for Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, please contact Joelle Edmond,or Brenda MillerExamples of Important DutiesOperating vehicles and equipment including riding mowers, tractors with attachments, large trucks, weed eaters, hand tools, and leaf blowers General custodial duties include cleaning and restocking of bathrooms and emptying trash & recycling containers General landscaping duties include planting, weeding, trimming and removing trees and shrubs Responds to emergencies including inclement weather conditions/snow removal Splits, loads, and restocks firewood Opens the park gates on weekends Special event support, including tent set up and break down, tables and chairs set up and break down, etc. Performs assignments independently or as part of a team Keeps supervisor up to date on assigned work tasks Minimum QualificationsPass background check Able to lift at least 40 lbs. At least six months of experience in grounds keeping, building maintenance, park maintenance, or similar work Ability to read and write Valid driver's license Supplemental Information May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. This position accrues paid sick leave up to 40 hours/year. A background investigation will be completed prior to hire. Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees Health Insurance Plans You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period. If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office. Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
