Title: Process Qualifications Engineer Pay Rate Range: $33.00/hr (DOE) Employment Type: Contract - Approximately 10 months Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week; extended hours, weekends, or holidays may be required based on project needs) Location: Newton, NC (100% Onsite; may also support Hickory, NC facility - 5 miles away) Job Posting ID: CRNGJP00029085 Job Overview Tekberry is seeking a Process Qualifications Engineer to support our client, a global leader in advanced materials and fiber optic manufacturing technologies, at their Newton, NC facility. This hands-on engineering role focuses on qualifying processes and equipment within a high-speed fiber optic cable manufacturing environment. The Process Engineer will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams-including mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, and operations-to support equipment start-ups, execute experiments, analyze data, and drive process improvements. The ideal candidate brings strong statistical analysis capabilities, manufacturing process experience, and the ability to translate data into actionable engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities Process Qualification & Equipment Support Provide hands-on support for process and equipment qualification activities. Assist with equipment start-ups, including test equipment setup, parameter adjustments, and data collection. Support line installations and debug efforts to ensure stable and capable production processes. Provide feedback and recommendations to improve equipment performance and product quality. Data Analysis & Experimentation Design and execute experiments to expand process understanding and support technology deployment. Analyze large data sets to identify relationships and capabilities related to line performance. Utilize statistical tools and methodologies such as Design of Experiments (DoE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Interpret results and present findings, recommendations, and visualizations to engineering leadership. Leverage software tools including JMP, Minitab, and Power BI for data analysis and reporting. Process Improvement & Problem Solving Support manufacturing process improvements focused on variability reduction, defect reduction, and throughput improvements. Participate in and support 6-Sigma and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform root cause analysis using structured methodologies such as 6-Sigma, TRIZ, KT-PA, and MEE. Identify and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing issues. Documentation & Standardization Lead and/or support development of standard work documentation, including SOPs, SOS, job aids, and training materials. Ensure processes and documentation meet operational and safety requirements. Maintain adherence to safe work practices at all times. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate effectively with diverse engineering and operations teams. Demonstrate technical leadership, organization, and planning skills while managing changing priorities. Communicate clearly and professionally across multiple functional groups. Must-Have Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering. Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment. Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision-making capability. Experience successfully completing projects in manufacturing settings. Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as JMP, Minitab, and Power BI. Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DoE). Demonstrated expertise in process improvement and root cause analysis. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for a minimum of 18 months. Preferred Qualifications Experience in high-speed cable or fiber optic manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with equipment installation, debug, and process scale-up. Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering and operations teams. Exposure to structured engineering methodologies such as 6-Sigma, TRIZ, KT-PA, or similar frameworks. Work Environment 100% onsite role in Newton, NC, with potential support at the Hickory, NC plant. Combination of production floor support and engineering office work. Typical 40-hour workweek; extended hours, weekends, or holidays may be required to meet project timelines.
