Job Description

Trinity Metro has an immediate opening for a Technical Trainer to provide professional, administrative, and technical support in meeting operator and driver training needs. The incumbent researches, recommends, designs, writes, revises, and implements bus/van operations training within the company. The Technical Trainer performs routine route checks to determine bus and van safety, as well as monitors operator performance during training. The incumbent performs under the direction of the Operations Manager. This position's responsibilities include: Designs, develops, writes, revises, and conducts technical skills training programs for Trinity Metro employees. Prepares training manuals and other training materials; including presentations, training videos, and programs. Trains operators on topics including, but not limited to: CNG, wheelchair tie-down and lift operations, driving buses, vans or paratransit (On-Demand), safety regulations, and customer service. Counsels operators in areas needing improvement. Conducts research, confers with management, union representatives, focus groups, and outside sources to assess training needs; makes appropriate recommendations based of assessment of training needs. Performs route checks for bus and passenger safety. Monitors the performance and adherence to safety procedures by Operators. Conducts remedial training and fitness-for-duty evaluations for operators. Train and test operators for CDL Develops and/or evaluates feedback from participants training experiences; implements appropriate follow-up, and evaluates and validates the effectiveness of training programs. Recommends appropriate action at the conclusion of the training programs, Ex: graduation, re-testing, termination from program, etc. Develops and maintains necessary computerized files and records to document course attendance, test results, training materials, etc.; orders, creates and maintains stock of training materials. Gathers data and writes reports to show correlation between training and on-the-job performance. Maintains confidential information. May be asked to participate in Trinity Metro's community activities to promote transit May provide training outside the organization as requested. Performs other duties, as assigned. REQUIREMENTS CDL with passenger endorsement Familiarity with DOT and FTA safety regulations Expertise in adult learning principles, presentation skills, and the use of audio-visual aids preferred. EXPERIENCE Minimum of two to five years of driving or training within a public transit agency or school bus setting. Clean driving record (Motor Vehicle Record - MVR) with no major accidents or violations within the last 3-5 years. Trinity Metro is an Equal Employment/Affirmative Action Employer
