Job DescriptionDepartment Nursing Reports to Licensed Nurses, Nurse Managers, Director of Nursing Reporting to this position None Position Purpose The Medication Assistant Certified endorsed Nurse Aide, under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse, administers medications to resident with the exception of IV medications, chemotherapeutic agents, Insulin, and Controlled Substances in addition to CNA duties including performing various resident care services for all Friendship Health Care residents under supervision of a licensed nurse. Serves residents in a conscientious manner, respectful of the resident's identify, safety, and comfort in accordance with resident rights and care plan. Required Qualifications Minimum requirements include the following: Certified Nursing Assistant license in good standing with the state. OR State endorsement certification as a Medication Assistant-Certified (MA-C) Current CPR/BLS certification. Enjoys working in geriatric setting. Must have no disciplinary action in effect against certification. Major Duties and Responsibilities: All staff work as a team. Administer medications to residents with the exception of IV medications, chemotherapeutic agents, PRN (as needed) medications, and Controlled Substances. Answer resident call lights and deliver messages. Documents accurately the administration of medication into electronic health record. Provides supportive services to nurse(s) and other staff as needed and performs duties as assigned.
