Manager, Respiratory Therapy Location: Redwood City, CA Work Model: Onsite Employment Type: Full-Time | Regular Manager, Respiratory Therapy to lead inpatient respiratory care services in a unionized hospital environment. This onsite leadership role is responsible for managing respiratory therapy teams, ensuring clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and high-quality patient outcomes across a single site or multiple sites. This leader will drive evidence-based respiratory care, staff development, quality improvement initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration in alignment with Healthcare's mission and operational goals. Essential Responsibilities People Leadership & Development Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to respiratory therapy staff Develop staff through training, professional growth opportunities, and performance management Foster collaboration, engagement, accountability, and open communication across teams Delegate effectively while supporting staff development and decision-making Operations & Workforce Management Translate business plans into operational action plans Manage staffing, scheduling, and allocation of respiratory therapy resources Ensure compliance with departmental policies, union agreements, and KP standards Remove operational barriers and implement process improvements Clinical Leadership & Practice Standards Lead implementation of respiratory care standards, protocols, and evidence-based practices Guide teams in complex clinical projects and long-term initiatives Ensure teams are trained on current respiratory equipment and evolving industry standards Support ongoing clinical education, competencies, and quality improvement initiatives Safety, Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements Maintain patient, staff, and member confidentiality and data security Identify and mitigate patient and staff safety risks Oversee reporting, investigation, and resolution of incidents and safety events Financial & Resource Management Manage personnel, equipment, and supply resources efficiently Optimize inventory, equipment maintenance, and cost controls Analyze operational and clinical performance metrics Participate in budgeting, staffing models, and strategic planning Patient Care & Quality Improvement Oversee respiratory therapy patient assessments and care plans Ensure safe delivery of respiratory treatments and infection control practices Lead quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes and access to care Manage resolution of complex patient issues, grievances, and unusual occurrences Must-Have Requirements (Non-Negotiable) Active California Respiratory Care Practitioner License (posted on CA State License Board) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Certificate (NBRC - active) Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care Minimum 7 years of respiratory therapy experience Minimum 3 years of respiratory leadership / management experience Recent inpatient respiratory care experience Recent experience working in a union environment BLS Certification (active at hire) Preferred / Nice-to-Have RT NICU experience Experience managing respiratory services across multiple units or sites Ideal Candidate Profile Proven leader in acute inpatient respiratory care Strong union environment experience Hands-on respiratory clinical background with leadership depth Operationally strong with a quality-and-safety mindset Recruiter Submission Template - Full Name: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Care, University and Completion Year: Active California Respiratory Care License (Yes/No): CA License Number: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Certificate (Yes/No): NBRC RRT Number: BLS Certified (Yes/No - Expiration Date): Total Respiratory Therapy Experience (Years): Total Respiratory Leadership Experience (Years): Recent Inpatient Respiratory Care Experience (Yes/No - Details): Recent Union Environment Experience (Yes/No - Details): RT NICU Experience (Yes/No - Details): Team Size Managed (Approx. # of FTEs): Units / Sites Managed: Experience Managing Staffing, Scheduling & Budgets (Yes/No): Experience with Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Initiatives (Yes/No): Experience with Respiratory Equipment & Protocol Implementation (Yes/No): Motivation / Reason for Relocation (if not local): Motivation / Reason for interest in this position: Contact Number: Email ID: LinkedIn Profile URL: Full Address (Street, City, State, Zip Code): Notice Period (in weeks): Current Work Authorization Status: Expected Salary: Are you able to relocate on your own expenses and work 100% ON-SITE in Redwood City, CA?
