Pay Rate: $21.71 Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Family Services is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician who is assigned to ensure that the physical environment is safe and comfortable for its individuals/children served, staff, and visitors. They will perform any general repair task and preventative maintenance tasks needed. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 7am- 3:30pm St. Vincent’s Villa provides comprehensive residential treatment for children, ages 5-13, whose behavioral and emotional needs have not responded to community-based interventions and services. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responds to work requests and takes corrective action according to established priorities. Inspects sites and performs preventative maintenance according to established schedules and procedures. Performs routine maintenance, painting, and repairs to ensure proper upkeep of site. Performs structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, drywall, and furnishings of sites. Respond to pages in a timely manner. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies and shops competitively for supplies and materials to keep inventory levels and/or deal with repairs, using tax exempt card for purchases. Provides monthly checks for maintenance vehicle and floater vehicles. (i.e., oil, fluids, etc.) Clears sidewalks, access and parking areas of snow/ice and/or other debris as needed. Removes trash, and bulk items from sites. Assists with grounds keeping and landscaping as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:High School diploma/G.E.D. 2 years related experience that includes basic, practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: Maintains the environment of care by complying with therapeutic standards, risk management policy, and procedures for maintaining client safety. Shows reliability by being punctual; maintains consistent attendance. Thorough knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions. Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools and/or equipment used in routine maintenance. Ability to keep the property clean and orderly. Ability to interact directly with individuals/children served, visitors, vendors and staff; and occasionally with representatives of federal, state and local regulating agencies. Ability to utilize, or willingness to learn computer systems and software, necessary to perform position functions. (Basic computer, web browsing, online training, and email usage skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Rotates weekly 24 hour on-call duties within the department. Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds; use full range of motion of limbs; bend, stoop, climb, and stand 90% of the time. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc. Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with others. Operating machinery and/or power tools including electric, pneumatic, and hand tools. Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver’s ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
