Job Description The City of Saratoga Springs is hiring a full time Facilities Technician. This employee is responsible for assisting in the ongoing custodial & maintenance upkeep of City buildings to ensure that facilities are clean, safe, attractive, and secure. This is a full-time, non-exempt position of approximately 40 hours per week, shift hours. Job Responsibilities Performs standard cleaning services such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash containers, dusting furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, cleaning interior windows, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, locker rooms, kitchens, and break rooms, polishing fixtures, and filling dispensers Performs periodic major cleaning projects Keeps accurate records of inventory and informs supervisor of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance projects Notifies supervisor concerning needed building or equipment repairs Manages building security and safety by unlocking and locking doors after operating hours Will be required to work outside of regular business hours as needed and may be required for emergency cleanup and repairs or scheduled maintenance work Assists with performing general building maintenance including, but not limited to, lighting, lamp replacement, painting, drywall, carpentry, minor electrical, and minor plumbing Assists with performing minor building repairs, as assigned, on items to include, but not limited to, windows, doors, switches, tables, equipment and appliances, sinks, toilets, HVAC, and walls May oversee building maintenance and repair work performed by outside vendors Assists with the dissemination of information to other City Personnel and impacted parties on assigned projects Assist with snow removal, during inclement weather, at City Facilities Sets up and prepares buildings for special events May assist with tracking, scheduling, and overseeing maintenance and repair of the Administrative department vehicles Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Education & Experience: Must be 18 years of age A High School Diploma or GED equivalent Must have two (2) years of experience working in custodial fields, building maintenance, or a related field Certifications: Must possess a valid Utah Driver license Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrate the ability to follow City policies and procedures Routine knowledge of industrial cleaning/custodial duties, cleaning methods, and supplies Must have an understanding of work hazards and safety procedures Utilize computers and other electronic devices to maintain records, utilize task lists, and monitor messages while doing other work Use all tools and operate all equipment, properly and safely, necessary to perform work of the position including climbing ladders and balancing without assistance Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public, including receiving and implementing instructions Work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule Be highly attentive to detail Organize, prioritize, and follow through with multiple projects of various complexity at the same time. Maintain a safe and clean environment Adhere to best safety practices and comply with OSHA mandates Exercise sound and good judgment at all times, but especially in emergency situations Deal with others in a pleasant, courteous, and calm manner Working Conditions The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions-including but are not limited to the job functions, qualifications, and competencies listed herein-of this job in the working conditions below. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet while in the office and moderately loud when utilizing some equipment Work requires the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, including on ladders or similar equipment without assistance The employee may be occasionally required to work in outside weather conditions, in wet and/or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, near fumes, airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals Work for sustained periods of time while maintaining efficiency, attention to detail, alertness, proficiency, and accuracy This position requires the employee to drive City vehicles Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: The full salary range is as follows, please note hiring will normally occur at the Minimum of the range and will not exceed the Midpoint of the range: Minimum - $21.91hr. Midpoint - $26.29hr. Maximum - $30.67/hr. Benefits: The City offers a competitive benefits package including several health insurance options (one of which has a $0.00 employee premium payroll deduction with Wellness program participation), dental insurance, life and long-term disability insurances, an EAP (including mental health short-term counseling services) for the whole family, a free Teledoc program for the whole family, monetary incentives for wellness program participation, and a HSA (health savings account) with an Employer match. The City also offers the employee the option to elect to add on Vision, Accident, Hospital, Critical Illness, additional Life Insurance coverage, and FSAs (flexible spending accounts). The City participates in the Utah Public Retirement System (pension). In addition, the City does not participate in Social Security so no Social Security taxes are deducted from your paycheck. In lieu of the City's Social Security contributions, the City contributes 6.2% of salary into a 401(k) retirement plan. Leave time benefits include 120 hours of paid time off (PTO) accrued annually, 40 hours of short-term medical accrued annually, and 11 holidays annually.
