JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Retail Sales is responsible for the daily operations of US Eye's optical locations, prescription eyewear, and designer sunglass merchandising; vendor negotiations; inventory and cost control; and profit maximization. Additionally, the inventory management of non-prescription skin care products and Dry Eye products falls under this role. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (other duties as required): Oversee US Eye's 40 optical locations, including display and layout. Recruit, develop, and oversee Optometric Managers, Licensed Opticians, Optical Assistants, Optical Technicians, and Retail Services Coordinators. Calculate optical manager incentives and complete performance reviews. Work with manufacturers to bring the best line of eyewear products and accessories to US Eye, negotiate pricing, and maximize board allocation efficiency across all locations in line with the market in each region. Assess overall market and competitor rates by region to determine and recommend pricing strategies Maintain vendor relationships. Analyze and interpret daily/monthly/quarterly reports. Create strategies for growth and maximizing profits. Serve as liaison between optometrists, employees, and patients. Ensure quality customer service. Review and implement training plans to optimize sales and customer service. Adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. Follows the principles of the Compliance Program as well as the Code of Conduct. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Retail Sales carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing staff complaints; and resolving problems. POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Salaried staff may be required to work beyond their scheduled hours due to business needs and expectations. TRAVEL: Travel is required. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 4-5 years of optical services and experience as a dispensing optician. Retail and merchandising experience and knowledge. Prior optical management experience across multiple states and locations. High school diploma required. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail.
