Job Title Resource Specialist I Agency Texas A&M Forest Service Department Community Resilience Proposed Minimum Salary $20.45 hourly Job Location Lufkin, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description "This position is for a two (2) year period. Continuation of this position is contingent on the availability of funding. The Resource Specialist will support the Mitigation & Prevention Department programs including Community Resiliency And Hazardous Fuels Mitigation. This employee will support the Community Wildfire Risk Reduction Grant programs with site inspections, data tracking and provide assistance to landowners with their questions and communications. This employee will also maintain all assigned equipment and keep in service. This includes vehicle, trailers, ATV/UTV and possibly mulchers, chippers and chainsaws. Occasionally, project work will require overnight travel away from home unit. This role is a key part of our efforts to reorganize and improve operational deficiency. This position will also provide support for other program needs as they arise, ensuring the department remains responsive and well-equipped to carry out is mission of wildfire mitigation. About the Agency: Texas A&M Forest Service provides statewide leadership and technical assistance to ensure trees, forests and related natural resources are sustained for the benefit of all. TAMFS is also the lead agency for wildfire response in the state and supports the state's incident response capability, helping to respond to a range of all-hazard incidents. To learn more about TAMFS, visit tfsweb.tamu.edu Duties & Responsibilities: The Resource Specialist I has a variety of duties and responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to the following: -Support Mitigation & Prevention Department staff with prescribed fire and mechanical fuels reduction grants with marketing through in-person meetings with cooperators, project pre-inspections, project post-inspections, communications with landowners and data tracking. -Utilize agency provided cell phone/tablet to access Field Maps to map and verify grant projects and ensure agency fuels mitigation project specifications are maintained. -Support Mitigation & Prevention Department staff with delivery and implementation of hazardous fuels reduction projects as assigned by Community Resiliency Staff. Will utilize agency provided cell phone/tablet to access Field Maps to ensure project specifications are maintained. -Responsible for ensuring all assigned agency-owned equipment is always maintained and stored in a secure locations. -Ensures all program work is completed in a cost-effective manner and within budget. -Completes all administrative tasks in accordance with applicable with laws, rules and procedures and guidelines. -Assists with Community Resiliency Staff with project tracking by the completion of timely reports. -Completes administrative tasks in a timely manner. Ability to maintain work schedule as agreed upon with Community Resiliency Staff. -May be needed to assist with fire prevention outreach events or other Mitigation & Prevention programs. Qualifications: -A high school diploma or equivalent. -A valid Commercial Driver's license from the State of Texas or the ability to obtain one within 180 days of employment is required. -Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required for this position. -An ideal candidate has strong written and oral communication skills and can work independently and be self-directed. This position requires the ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities in addition to working closely with others at times. -Strong organizational skills are required to effectively track, maintain and manage grant data and agency fuels project details. -Ability to utilize GIS programs including Field Maps is preferred.
