What You'll Be Doing: Lead the Charge in Transforming Oncology Care As the Director of Oncology Medical Affairs, you will play a vital role in pioneering value-based care approaches that emphasize clinical excellence and patient-centered outcomes. You will work alongside esteemed clinicians to shape care pathways and drive innovation in oncology. In this role, you will combine your deep oncology expertise with a focus on value-based strategy and transformation. This position goes beyond traditional medical review duties, integrating utilization management with collaborative engagement and innovation. Core Responsibilities Clinical Review & Peer Collaboration Serve as the physician reviewer for oncology cases that do not meet initial medical necessity criteria, utilizing evidence-based guidelines to guarantee high-quality, cost-effective care. Engage in peer-to-peer discussions with oncologists to clarify determinations and collaborate on practice patterns that enhance value and quality outcomes. Act as a subject matter expert and resource for clinical reviewers. Practice & Physician Engagement Connect with oncology practices to share best practices that foster the adoption of evidence-based treatment pathways. Develop trusted relationships with oncologists to promote sustainable changes in behavior that improve patient outcomes. Drive practice-level initiatives that reduce unwarranted variations and elevate quality. Internal Strategy & Value Initiatives Collaborate with clinical leadership to design, implement, and evaluate new value initiatives in oncology. Contribute to opportunities for innovation and models of care that support the transformation of specialty care. Work alongside operational and analytics teams to assess the impact of interventions and identify continuous improvement areas. Participate in audits to ensure accuracy of advance payment model payouts, aligning with clinical documentation and performance metrics. Compliance & Quality Ensure all reviews adhere to URAC, NCQA, and internal quality standards. Document peer interactions and clinical decisions promptly and accurately. Engage in training and reliability processes. Qualifications MD/DO/MBBS with board certification in Medical Oncology or Pediatric Oncology. Minimum of five (5) years of post-residency experience; recent active clinical practice preferred. Current, unrestricted medical license (multiple state licenses preferred or a willingness to obtain them). Proven leadership in practice transformation, value-based care, or clinical quality improvement. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities, with a track record of influencing physician behavior. Dynamic, curious, and passionate about shaping the future of oncology care delivery. Not under sanction or exclusion from Medicare/Medicaid programs. The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $130-$145/hr plus a potential sign-on bonus. This position also includes eligibility for a performance-based bonus component.
