Job Description A Brief Overview Are you a seasoned professional in environmental claims? We are seeking a talented Senior Environmental Claims Specialist for a temporary position that may extend until May 2026, working remotely from anywhere in the United States. This role involves collaborating with a manager based in New York City to adjudicate complex commercial environmental claims, particularly in the area of storage tank issues, while delivering exceptional results for our clients. The primary responsibilities of the role include: Independently adjudicating moderately complex commercial environmental claims that significantly impact departmental outcomes. Effectively solving challenging problems that require a comprehensive understanding of broader issues. Reporting trends and developments in claims to management and underwriters. Conducting prompt and thorough investigations of claims, including interviewing all involved parties. Analyzing claims forms, policies, endorsements, and records to evaluate coverage. Managing litigated claims effectively. Maintaining timely task management to facilitate optimal financial outcomes and resolutions. Establishing and reviewing reserves in accordance with Argo's policies and market standards. Identifying and coordinating expert resources for case resolution. Preparing detailed reports for documentation purposes. Applying innovative solutions that achieve the best financial results. Resolving straightforward claims within authority limits and following referral procedures. Negotiating effectively and efficiently to provide cost-effective solutions that benefit the company and clients. Prioritizing tasks and managing workload effectively. Engaging in clear and professional communication with various stakeholders. Demonstrating a passion for strong claims management. Core qualifications and requirements for this position include: Strong business acumen and understanding of how insurance companies operate and generate profit. A minimum of five years' experience in adjudicating commercial environmental claims, with at least two years managing claims related to mold and gasoline storage tank leakage. A bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience in place of a degree. Licensure as a Claims Examiner (or ability to obtain this license within 120 days). Excellent discretionary judgment and independent decision-making skills. Outstanding communication skills with the ability to foster lasting relationships. Curiosity and a willingness to explore diverse solutions beyond conventional thinking. A desire to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Strong evaluation, strategic, and negotiation skills. Customer-focused approach with the ability to manage various tasks and deadlines. Understanding of claims settlement dispute mechanisms like arbitration and mediation. Ability to articulate financial outcomes to various levels within clients' businesses. Proficient use of MS Office Suite and business-related software. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to professional development through continuous learning opportunities. The base salary for this role is competitive and will vary based on experience and geographic location: Colorado outside of Denver metro, Maryland, Nevada, and Rhode Island: $47.69 - $56.78 per hour California outside of Los Angeles and San Francisco metro areas, Connecticut, Chicago metro area, Denver metro area, Washington State, and New York State (including Westchester County): $52.50 - $62.45 per hour Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco metro areas: $57.26 - $68.17 per hour About Working in Claims at Argo Group At Argo Group, we value our claims professionals and offer a dynamic and rewarding work environment.
