About the Job General Description: As a Traveling Safety Manager, you will play a crucial role in promoting and ensuring safety on various construction projects. You will work closely with Project Staff and the Concrete Strategies safety team to uphold corporate safety and health standards while adhering to all Federal, State, and Local regulations. Your responsibilities will focus on fostering a zero injury safety culture, conducting comprehensive jobsite inspections, leading orientations for new employees, and actively supporting proactive safety initiatives to prevent incidents. Your dedication will be vital in motivating workers to prioritize safety in their daily tasks. Responsibilities: Assist in the development and implementation of the project safety program. Conduct jobsite orientations for new employees, documenting their participation and issuing identification as appropriate. Participate in initial project meetings to clarify roles in the safety program. Lead pre-planning safety meetings with subcontractors to establish safety procedures ahead of their activities on-site. Hold regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractors and project staff to ensure compliance. Facilitate training for site personnel to ensure adherence to safety standards established by OSHA and Concrete Strategies. Maintain a log of toolbox safety meetings conducted by subcontractors. Review subcontractors' safety programs for compliance and effectiveness. Ensure subcontractors assign trained safety representatives with the authority to address safety concerns. Conduct daily and weekly jobsite inspections, documenting violations and corrective actions. Prepare written reports for any safety violations to ensure immediate corrective actions. Take necessary action to stop any unsafe acts or practices. Collaborate with the Project Superintendent to establish effective fire prevention and evacuation procedures. Investigate all incidents, generating thorough reports. Maintain all required safety records. Conduct monthly safety overview meetings and participate in project staff meetings to discuss safety issues. Perform any other duties as necessary. Qualifications: Excellent management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities. Education/Experience: B.S. in Safety and Health or equivalent. Minimum of four years of safety experience, or a combination of education and extensive experience in building construction, with a strong understanding of safety and environmental principles. Bilingual in Spanish and possessing intercultural communication skills is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Working Conditions: Physical Requirements: Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and maneuver within construction areas. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to use hands for tasks, engage in physical activities such as standing, climbing, and balancing. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Regularly works onsite, potentially exposed to mechanical parts, high places, fumes, weather conditions, and electrical hazards.
