Let's build it together Position Overview OptimaEd is seeking a Canvas Specialist to manage and support our Canvas LMS environment. This role focuses on day-to-day administration, system configuration, user support, and ensuring a reliable and user-friendly experience for both students and teachers. The Canvas Specialist will serve as the primary LMS support contact and work closely with instructional, implementation, and technical teams. Key Responsibilities Canvas Administration Manage course creation, enrollments, and term setup within Canvas Configure and maintain roles, permissions, and account settings Support teachers in course setup, content organization, and best practices within Canvas Maintain consistency in course templates and structure Provide responsive support to students and teachers experiencing LMS related issues Troubleshoot system errors, enrollment problems, and access concerns Escalate complex technical issues as needed and document resolutions Develop and maintain clear help guides and training materials Provide virtual training sessions to support effective LMS use User Support Integrations and Data Management Assist with LTI tool setup and third party application support Support data imports and exports using CSV files Monitor user enrollment processes and ensure data accuracy Assist with single sign on troubleshooting and coordination Testing and Continuous Improvement Test new tools, updates, and configurations before implementation Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements Collaborate with cross functional teams to enhance user experience Required Qualifications Three to five years of experience supporting or administering Canvas LMS Experience supporting teachers and students in a K 12 or higher education environment Strong understanding of Canvas roles, permissions, and course workflows Experience working with CSV files and Excel for data management Familiarity with LTI tools and basic Canvas integrations Strong communication and troubleshooting skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, families, and colleagues Ability to adapt to changing priorities and technology updates Commitment to continuous professional growth Alignment with OptimaEd's mission, vision, and values Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting immersive learning platforms or VR integrations Basic familiarity with Canvas API or other LMS related technical tools Understanding of education compliance standards such as FERPA Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Work Environment Fully remote position Extended screen time required Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods Benefits Flexible Time Off Paid Holidays Professional Development 401(k) with Employer Match Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance 25,000 Life Insurance Policy Legal Aid Employer Discount Program Fun, Supportive, Rewarding Culture and 100% remote This job description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of duties.
