Job Title: Welding and Coating Construction Inspector Work Location: Gibsonton, FL Salary: Competitive salary based on experience; to be discussed during interview. Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a federal background check and drug screening. Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough inspections and observations on construction projects at federal facilities, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications regarding workmanship, materials, installation, and construction methods. Perform detailed welding inspections related to steel fabrication to ensure quality and safety. Oversee fabrication shop practices, monitoring all aspects from storage and handling to welding and coatings applications. Execute coating inspections, applying various testing methods to evaluate coating systems and application processes. Conduct inspections and testing for structural bolting, ensuring compliance with established methods and installation standards. Provide invaluable recommendations to government personnel regarding necessary changes or improvements in contract plans and specifications. Monitor and administer the contractor's quality system, including the three-phase inspection process. Deliver on-site surveillance at construction locations and assist the owner in resolving any problems encountered. Review and manage change orders, modifications, RFIs, and submittals effectively. Track the contractor's schedule and ensure project timelines are met. Review adherence to QA and safety plans by the contractor to maintain a safe work environment. Utilize the Resident Management System (RMS) for efficient project management. Education & Experience: High school diploma with a minimum of 5 years in construction welding inspections and 2 years in coating and structural bolting inspections. AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification in alignment with AWS QC1 and 5 years of experience in steel fabrication. Qualified Nondestructive Testing (NDT) personnel, conforming to ASNT standards. Coating inspection certification: NACE Level I or higher, or SSPC Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1 or higher, along with formal training and a minimum of 2 years of experience in coating inspections. Preferred certification for Structural Bolting Inspection according to AASHTO G4.2 guidelines, with formal training and experience in bolting methods. Experience with the Three-Phase QC/Inspection Process. Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual is a plus. Experience with the Resident Management System (RMS) is preferred.
