Job Responsibilities York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State. The Campus Safety Attendant performs the following functions: Patrols York Technical College ensuring the safety of personnel and buildings on campus. Assists with unlocking or locking buildings. Be alert to possible problems on campus. Patrol on foot, golfcarts, and/or vehicles as required. Be watchful of safety /security concerns. Provide vehicle assistance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors of York Technical College to include jump starts and other forms of assistance that may be required. Provide escorts to parking lots or vehicles for faculty, staff, and students when requested. Investigate complaints and incidents occurring on York Technical College campus. Monitor alarms and surveillance cameras located in the Campus Safety Office. Respond to emergencies and alarms. Complete proper documentation of situations and forward to supervisor. Maintain communication with Campus Safety/Law Enforcement team. Respond to other members requiring assistance. Assist local Law Enforcement while on York Technical College campus. CPR, First Aid, and AED certified or willing to become certified. Minimum and Additional RequirementsAt least a high school diploma or GED At least three years of experience with safety, security, EMS or law enforcement Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Valid drivers license First Aid, CPR, and AED certified or able to become certified with in first 90 days of employment Regular walking and standing for extended periods of time Able to lift or move 15 pounds Exposure to outdoor weather conditions Preferred QualificationsAssociate or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related fields preferred. Familiarity with: de-escalation, surveillance cameras, fire and burglar alarms, computer operating systems (Microsoft Word, Excel) Additional Comments Applicants indicating degree(s) on the application may be required to provide unofficial copies of transcripts in the application process and official transcript upon hire.
