Salary : $35,776.00 Annually Location : Fort Pierce, FL Job Type: Full time non-exempt Job Number: 00190 Department: Clerk Finance Opening Date: 02/16/2026 Closing Date: 3/6/2026 11:59 PM Eastern FLSA: Non-Exempt Description This position consists of complex clerical accounting work with fiscal responsibilities. Performs assigned accounting tasks in accounts payable and/or accounts receivable area. Examples of DutiesPerform pre-audit on invoices to check for signatures, purchase order, vendor number, date and time stamp Accounts payable data input and daily balancing Check processing P-Card processing and reconciliation Perform telephone and on-line processing of vendor ACH transactions Prepare and process (may require direct customer contact) credit card payments for accounts payable Prepare daily deposits Prepare cash receipts and/or journal entries for daily work Prepare special disbursement reports weekly/monthly to other governmental agencies, including local and state. Conduct jury cash disbursement and balancing and initiate check request for jury cash drawer replenishment Maintain subsidiary ledger for certain accounting records and reconcile to the general ledger Assist department with interoffice and postal mails (open, sort and send to departments) whenever necessary Typical QualificationsRequired: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Two years of directly related experience will substitute the educational requirement. Preferred: Two years of professional experience in A/P (Accounts Payable) , A/R (Accounts Receivable) or Accounting experience. Professional experience in a local or state government agency within the Finance department. Supplemental Information Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or deputies of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret spreadsheets. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software: spreadsheet software and word processing software. Knowledge of the principles and practices of bookkeeping and accounting Knowledge of fiscal record keeping and data processing Knowledge of office machines, skill in typing or data entry Preferred: The individual should have the knowledge of accounting software; Microsoft Office with heavy use in Excel and Word; Email and internet. Ability to work independently, make decisions with minimum supervision, handle multiple tasks. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the DC is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The DC is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
