We believe in treating our customers and employees with respect and dignity while striving to grow quality plants and people! What does a Garden Center Associate do? As a Garden Center Associate this spring, you will jump right into the action! Your daily tasks will include: Greeting customers with a smile and helping them in a variety of ways. This includes answering plant questions, directing customers to the location of products, helping load purchases into carts and more Working with a Point of Sale system at a register, efficiently processing items and payments Maintaining a variety of plant material which includes watering, deadheading, pruning, spacing and more Merchandising displays by transferring plant material from carts onto the display tables Maintaining the sales area by sweeping, washing floors, raking and general cleaning Helping out in in other areas of the greenhouse as needed Adhering to Green Valley's safety standards Our Garden Center is open Monday-Saturday and is always closed on Sunday. Green Valley recognizes the importance of flexibility and offers accommodating day and evening schedules. During the weekdays, typical shifts are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or Noon to 7:00 pm. Requirements for the Garden Center Associate job To thrive as a Garden Center Associate this spring, you will want to bring your enthusiasm and a sprinkle of creativity! A passion to learn and work as a team is key in this role, along with a strong work ethic and the willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. We are looking for candidates who: Are energetic and friendly while interacting with customers and co-workers Understand that physical stamina is vital in performing daily tasks which include frequent walking, lifting, bending and standing Are able to move and carry objects up to 25 lbs without assistance Are able to work Fridays and Saturdays in May Are excited to learn about a variety of plant materials Have effective communication skills Are at least 16 years of age With a humble attitude and a commitment to excellence, you will blossom in this role and contribute positively to our team!
