Position Description & Qualifications Join our Engineering Internship Program, designed for undergraduate students seeking paid internship opportunities to gain valuable, hands-on experience in a professional setting. Our internships for 2026 kick off on May 26th and run through August 7th, with a week off from July 1 to July 7. You will collaborate with your manager to establish a flexible work schedule, averaging no more than 36 hours per week, and enjoy half-days on Fridays! In addition to experiencing real-world engineering projects, you will participate in training sessions led by industry leaders, positioning you for a successful full-time career. You will evaluate construction efforts of Navy ships, identifying improvement areas and making a lasting impact on our organization and the Navy. You will report to Quinten King, who leads our team overseeing the construction of Aegis Class Destroyers. As an Engineering Intern, you will support the Maritime Engineering, Technology & Sustainment (METS) Business Unit, known for its capabilities in naval ship and submarine design, engineering services, production support, and logistics. Your contributions will enhance ship production on the Arleigh Burke Guided Missile Destroyer Contract, addressing engineering discrepancies during construction to deliver superior ships. In this role, you will: Assist in the development of ship construction and machinery. Support experienced engineers and learn from them. Perform fundamental engineering tasks. Adhere to quality and security protocols. Throughout your internship, you will gain exposure to various teams, including the Aegis Destroyer Production Team and Aegis Destroyer Technical Team. To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications: Eligibility to obtain a DoD security clearance. Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program at an accredited university, expected to graduate by Spring 2026. Pursuing a degree in Engineering, naval architecture, or a related field. Ideal candidates are rising juniors, rising seniors, or Spring 2026 graduates. Basic knowledge of relevant tools and software. Effective internal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
