The Construction Manager acts as the liaison for pre-construction and construction activities, including leading the safety, security and quality for the Program. The Terminal 7 and 8 Refresh Project encompasses a series of improvements aimed at enhancing resiliency, sustainability, and the overall user experience. Key scope components include interior renovations, aircraft apron pavement rehabilitation, concessions enabling, and other supporting enhancements.Key Identifiers for the PositionConstruction Manager with experience in an operating/active environmentManagement of construction within budget and schedule constraints while maintaining all necessary scope elementsLeader in stakeholder engagement to identify, communicate, resolve, and accomplish stakeholder needs while preserving project scope, schedule, and budget constraintsKnowledge of construction contracting practices and methodologiesKnowledge and experience in the project construction life cycle, from pre-construction to estimating/buyout, phasing, implementation, and closeoutAbility to maintain excellent working relationships with design and construction professionals, geared toward open communication and mutual problem-solving in the best interest of the project and all parties involvedEssential Job Duties for this positionMonitor all on-site field construction activities associated with project completionApply comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines used during construction, including methods and techniques for installationEnsure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), and that all proper notifications are madeBecome thoroughly familiar with contractual obligations and technical aspects of all facilities to be erectedEnsure all work is performed and inspected in accordance with the latest plans and specifications, including approved changes, submittals, and RFIsWork with the Design/Builder and stakeholders to develop overall construction planning and identify critical milestones and prioritiesMonitor budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and scheduleMonitor assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency, maintain schedules, and meet budget goalsIdentify potential problem areas and take preventive action to ensure critical milestones are met for each project phaseEnsure the use of sound and safe construction practices to achieve required quality control at maximum efficiency and minimum costPrepare periodic reports summarizing progress of construction activities for senior management and clientsEnsure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including project labor agreement policiesContribute to the advancement of ADG’s goals through productive collaboration with all stakeholdersPerform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriateParticipate in necessary coordination meetings with the Design/Builder, trade partners, stakeholders, LAWA Operations, and othersReview contractor potential change order claims for merit and negotiate to final resolutionHardware/Software KnowledgeProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and BluebeamFamiliarity with Project Management Information Systems (PM Web)Required Qualifications15 years or more of experience, preferably on airport projectsExperience with projects valued at more than $100 millionExperience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR, and Design/BuildProven ability to perform in a management capacityExcellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulationsMultiple positions are anticipated — submitted experience should emphasize airport concourse scope, airport headhouse scope, or site/civil scopeMinimum Education/TrainingBachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, or other related technical field requiredMaster’s degree preferredOptional certifications/licensure may include AAAE, LEED, PE, AIA, PMP, AICP, or other relevant professional licensure and/or certificationsElement-Specific Requirements/NotesMay assume other duties as required/needed.May be required to work past regular work shiftsMay be required to work various shifts as neededThis is a Monday–Friday full-time position in the office or on the project site at LAXThe position will require the candidate to have the ability to transit to, from, and between project sites.After hours or weekend work may be required to perform the duties of the position. This shall be considered part of the salary.LAWA has required the candidates be local and available fully on-site for this field position.
