Network Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across large-scale environments for a client in the Columbia, MD area. This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule (2 days per week onsite). Responsibilities for the Network Engineer include: Design, plan, and implement LAN and WAN solutions for enterprise environments. Configure and maintain Cisco routers, switches (6500/4500/Nexus 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K), and Meraki wireless systems. Manage enterprise-level WAN and Internet circuits, including inter-data center connectivity. Implement and support network security technologies (Cisco Sourcefire IDPS, FTD; Zscaler; Cisco ISE; Palo Alto NGFWs; Palo Alto GPVPN; Cisco ACI; SilverPeak SD-WAN). Configure and maintain Site-to-Site VPNs. Perform network performance analysis using packet capture tools (Wireshark and similar). Utilize SolarWinds for monitoring and troubleshooting. Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures. Qualifications for the Network Engineer include: 5+ years of experience managing and supporting large enterprise network environments. Advanced knowledge of IP routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF) and TCP/IP networking. Hands-on experience with Cisco hardware and technologies. Strong understanding of network security principles and tools. Experience with SD-WAN and VPN technologies. Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE) are a plus. Compensation for the Network Engineer includes: Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience.
