Job Description Department Overview Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) provides an ideal combination of public cloud flexibility with on-premises security and reliability. Our high-performance services are cost-effective and tailored to meet the diverse needs of our customers. Clients can easily provision virtual machines and bare metal servers seamlessly through our unified platform that supports a variety of industry-standard tools. The Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) is the foundation of our managed Kubernetes service, designed for both internal and external users. We are continuously improving our offerings with new features aimed at simplifying cluster management and enhancing integration with OCI, while ensuring 24/7 service scalability. Position Overview We are seeking accomplished engineers with a strong desire to tackle complex challenges in distributed systems, virtualization, and high-availability services. At Oracle, you will have the chance to design and implement groundbreaking systems from the ground up. With our rapid growth and ambitious goals, engineers at all levels are positioned to make impactful technical and business contributions. The ideal candidate will be an adept programmer with extensive knowledge in networking, storage, and operating systems. Your responsibilities will include developing distributed, highly available systems for Kubernetes, along with the automation and tooling essential for testing and deployment processes. Qualifications A BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. 8+ years of experience in delivering and managing large-scale, highly available distributed systems. Proficient in programming, preferably in Java or Golang, with experience in scripting languages like Python. Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and a proactive ownership mindset. Experience in building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructures. Experience with Kubernetes and expertise in either: Overlay networking and container networking on Linux. System and service management on Linux. Responsibilities Architect and design innovative features and systems tailored for our customers. Collaborate across teams to develop optimal systems for operations and clients, overcoming organizational challenges. Independently troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance existing systems, focusing on reducing operational burdens and improving performance. Serve as a generalist capable of diagnosing issues across a diverse range of our technological stack. Enhance system scalability by creating tools and automation processes. Collaborate with external teams and partners to advance the development process. Participate in on-call shifts to address service issues and engage with customer support challenges. Manage routine operational tasks essential for maintaining a globally deployed high-availability service. This position is governed by relevant employment regulations, including certain immunization and occupational health mandates. The salary range for this role is $96,800 to $223,400 per year, reflecting various factors like experience and location.
