Summary: Join our dynamic Energy Team at Meta, where our data centers serve as the backbone for our expansive infrastructure delivering cutting-edge services. We are on the lookout for a knowledgeable and driven energy professional with experience in the commercial energy sector. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing and expanding our data center portfolio to ensure a reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy supply, focusing on both regulated and organized markets. Your expertise will be essential in overseeing electricity regulation, policy, and utility relationships as we expand our fleet of data centers. As a crucial part of the team, you will help shape Meta's global energy strategy, which emphasizes a supply portfolio rich in cost-competitive clean and renewable energy resources aligned with our strategic goals. The perfect candidate will have a strong history of commercial success in utility negotiations and possess a solid understanding of both regulated markets like WECC and RTO markets like ERCOT and SPP, along with comprehensive knowledge of various energy supply topics encompassing commercial, regulatory, market, technical, and financial aspects. Key Responsibilities: Manage commercial relationships for our data centers across diverse energy markets in the United States. Engage in regulatory processes to influence rate-making and energy supply options provided by utilities, suppliers, and market operators. Foster and develop partnerships with key utility partners, market participants, regulators, policymakers, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with legal teams to create and refine commercial agreements for existing facilities, ensuring they receive reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy. Work with the Site Selection Team to identify potential new data center locations that meet our energy requirements. Interact with internal teams, including data center on-site staff, sustainability, policy, communications, design, construction, legal, and finance. Support the ongoing development and execution of Meta's energy supply strategy for data centers. Stay abreast of technical, market, and regulatory developments in the energy industry and effectively communicate key trends, risks, and impacts to management. Lead and support various energy projects as necessary. Travel domestically (approx. 25% expected). Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of experience navigating commercial energy issues related to customer loads and new locations. Demonstrated success representing business interests to utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Working knowledge of utility interconnection processes and transmission and distribution. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with internal staff, utility providers, consultants, and external entities. Strong communication skills, able to convey complex commercial, regulatory, market, and contractual information to all organizational levels. Proficient in standard documentation and analytics tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, etc.). Compensation: $202,000/year to $273,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits.
