Job Title: Material Recovery Facility Operations Manager Employment Type: Full-Time Company Overview: Our client, a leader in waste and recycling services, is actively seeking an experienced Material Recovery Facility Operations Manager to take charge of their Material Recovery Facility. This crucial role is pivotal in ensuring efficient processing, optimizing recovery rates, and upholding safety and compliance standards. Job Summary: The Material Recovery Facility Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of facility operations, focusing on production, safety, staffing, and quality control. This hands-on leadership role demands an individual capable of enhancing operational efficiency while ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: Operational Management: Supervise daily operations, including sorting, processing, and baling recyclable materials. Coordinate staff and monitor equipment performance to guarantee operational efficiency. Safety & Compliance: Establish and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulations. Conduct safety meetings and regular inspections to maintain a secure work environment. Staff Management: Manage and develop staff, including equipment operators and maintenance personnel. Organize shift schedules to ensure proper coverage and productivity. Production & Quality Control: Track production metrics, recovery rates, and material quality. Collaborate with teams to address operational challenges and implement process improvements. Budget & Cost Control: Oversee operational budgets, manage costs effectively, and identify opportunities for enhancements. Engage with senior management to align with financial objectives. Customer & Vendor Relationships: Facilitate inbound and outbound logistics with haulers, contractors, and material buyers. Foster strong relationships with external partners to optimize material sales. Qualifications: Experience: 5-7 years in managing or supervising a Material Recovery Facility or recycling plant. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Business, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered. Skills: In-depth knowledge of waste management and recycling processes. Proven leadership and team management expertise. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in operational software and Microsoft Office Suite. Physical Requirements: Must be capable of working in varying conditions and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
