POSITION SUMMARY The Occupational Therapist will design and implement interventions aimed at restoring function and preventing disability related to injuries, diseases, or limb loss. You will maintain the highest standards of professional and ethical practice while delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training: Licensed in Tennessee. Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Certified Hand Therapist. BLS certification within 90 days of hire. Workplace Experience: Experience in patient care delivery is essential. Equipment and Skills Training: Familiarity with standard patient care equipment and the ability to collaborate effectively under pressure is required. Physical Environment: Exposure to infectious diseases and the need to manage combative patients may occur. You will be expected to provide services in any area of the hospital where you are competent. Physical Effort: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to walk extensively and assist with patient transfers. Capable of lifting, positioning, and moving patients and equipment up to 50 lbs. Manual dexterity and mobility are crucial. Regular reaching, bending, kneeling, and crouching activities are required. Must be able to carry patients down multiple flights of stairs during emergencies. Effective maneuvering of varying patient weights is necessary. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments related to patients' conditions. Develop treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Apply therapeutic principles according to the standards established by the American Occupational Therapy Association. Advocate for and implement strategies to guide patients effectively through their treatment journey. Facilitate patient and family discharge planning, providing education and home exercise programs. Collaborate with team members to optimize physical therapy services. Support the orientation and training of new staff members. Document patient care meticulously and timely. Maintain a professional work environment that reflects cleanliness and safety. Guide and mentor technicians and other support staff as needed. Engage in initiatives that enhance departmental effectiveness and communication. Effectively manage time and caseloads to ensure quality care delivery.
