Summary: Design and detailing of air cooled heat exchangers involving mechanical design and fabrication details by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Check drawings of other Detail Drafters. Train Detail Drafters regarding API 661, OSHA, Quality Work Instructions, detail software, detail processes and templates, and Kelvion manufacturing standards. Provide on-going on-the-job training to facilitate continuous performance improvement. Monitor and facilitate Detail Drafter performance to maximize productivity, efficiency, and issue detail drawings on time. Ensure detail schedule completion dates are met. Implement process improvements to improve detail efficiency, quality, and lower product cost. Keep Engineering Director informed of systemic changes, job schedules and issues, and other department issues. Detail air-cooled heat exchangers for shop fabrication as required to meet customer demands. Communicate with mechanical design engineers and shop personnel. Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on-site, ability to work overtime. Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management. Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ability to interchange with others in the department. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to supervise 5 to 15 non-exempt employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Kelvion's policies, procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Directing employees' work; providing for the safety of the employees; planning the work; determining the techniques to be used; apportioning the work among the workers. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must have a minimum of either: Associate's degree in CAD Drafting and Design with a minimum of three (3) years of experience with heat exchanger design and/or structural steel design. Or High School Diploma or GED Certification with Fundamentals and Principles of CAD design classes and a minimum of five (5) years of experience with heat exchanger design and/or structural steel design. Preferably, a candidate would have an Associate's degree, 5+ years' experience in heat exchanger and/or structural steel detailing, and 3D modeling and 2D CAD. General knowledge of welded steel fabrication practices. Drafting skills, Inventor and AutoCAD training required. Computer skills must include Windows, AutoCAD, Autodesk Mechanical (2D), and Excel. Working knowledge of American Petroleum Institute 661 and OSHA. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
