Job DescriptionSenior Software Engineer (Python/C++, RTOS)Location: Huntsville, AL (100% Onsite) Clearance Required: Active Final Secret (no interim) Overview We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support a large-scale missile defense program in Huntsville, AL. This role spans new software development, real-time systems, C++ development, and software/hardware integration within a structured, Agile, process-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Python-based software in Linux (Red Hat) environments. Develop and maintain C++ software components supporting embedded and real-time systems. Integrate software with hardware systems, testbeds, and lab environments. Participate in system architecture and design activities, including UML modeling using Cameo or similar tools. Contribute across the full software lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing, and verification. Support peer code reviews and provide technical guidance to team members. Work within Agile and formal, compliance-driven development environments. Required Qualifications Active Final Secret clearance at time of hire. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably supporting defense or aerospace programs. Strong Python development experience in Linux environments. Strong C++ development experience. Experience with software and hardware integration. Experience with real-time systems and/or RTOS. Minimum of 3 years of experience using DOORS and Cameo. Familiarity with Red Hat Linux. Ability to work full-time onsite in Huntsville, AL, with flexibility for early start hours. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Missile Defense systems. Experience in structured, model-based, or safety-critical development environments. Experience leading technical efforts or mentoring junior engineers.
