PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assume certain principal responsibilities as assigned and serve in the absence of the principal as the senior administrative officer on the campus. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification: Master's Degree Valid teaching certificate Texas principal or other appropriate Texas administrative certificate Preferred: Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) Preferred: Certified T-TESS Appraiser Special Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrates instructional leadership skills Ability to do numerical analysis Strong communications, public relations and interpersonal skills Strong verbal and written comminication; able to present information Thorough understanding of school operations Work Conditions: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Posture: Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; reaching Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress Regular Attendance is an essential function Minimum Experience: Three years of campus administrative experience preferred Three years' successful experience as a classroom teacher as evidenced by performance appraisals MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Perform all assistant principal duties as listed on the AISD Assistant Principal job description. Provide in-depth instructional or management assistance to the principal. Assume responsibilities for the initial preparation of the master schedule. Provide and evaluate special programs and support services. Plan and evaluate special programs and support services. Maintain confidentiality. Abide by State and Federal laws, District policies, campus expectations and Texas Educator Code of Ethics. Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
