About the Role: The Principal ensures that the school maintains 100% compliance with all local educational agency regulations, state regulations, and accreditation requirements. Also, the incumbent oversees all aspects of the School to include promoting a healthy, positive, safe, stimulating and structured school environment for students with disabilities. Additionally, the Principal develops, prepares and implements strategies within the classroom and school-wide plans for positive student outcomes. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:Directly supervises Certified Teachers, Classroom Paraprofessionals, the Office Coordinator, and the Assistant Principal. Indirectly supervises all staff of the School. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Leads, consults, and evaluates the delivery of instructional services to ensure that student IEP goals and objectives are effectively implemented, measured, and achieved. Ensures fiscal accountability by reviewing financial statements and supporting the development of funding plans that align with school goals and outcomes. Leads the development of the school's annual operating budget by analyzing prior year financial performance, assessing projected needs, and aligning resource planning with the academic calendar and strategic priorities. Develops, implements, and monitors curriculum, instructional resources, accommodations, and modifications that enhance learning for students and support staff effectiveness. Develops and implements a strategic enrollment plan that outlines target recruitment strategies and sets periodic benchmarks. Oversees the development, revision, and implementation of student intervention plans in collaboration with clinical, related services, and instructional staff. Performs detailed audits of all monthly OSSE billing invoices to ensure accuracy (error-free) prior to submission. Pursues, monitors, and manages grant funding to ensure awarded resources are used to enhance educational programming. Conducts ongoing formal and informal classroom observations to monitor the instructional practices and to ensure classroom teachers are providing students with the tools necessary for proficiency. Completes annual staff performance reviews and provides coaching, feedback, and professional development to support continuous improvement. Develops effective partnerships and collaborations with external agencies, schools, and organizations to enhance services for students with special needs. Implements policies and procedures to maintain and improve staff adherence to the requirements of their job descriptions. Maintains open communication and transparency with leadership within the Department of Developmental Disabilities of the assigned school. Oversees inclusion programs to assure program compliance, student achievement as well as continued partnership. Reviews quarterly report cards/progress reports pertaining to student's goal and objectives every quarter. Pursues and monitors all grant money and ensure award money is used to enhance the educational program for students. Other job-related duties as assigned. RequirementsEDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:Master's Degree in School Leadership/School Administration or related field. District of Columbia School Administration certification. Ten (10) years of relevant work experience. Experience in behavior management, crisis intervention, and hands-off problem-solving is a plus. Three (3) years of management experience in a school environment.
