Job Description GPAC is excited to partner with a dynamic heavy civil contractor seeking to welcome an Electrical Cost Estimator to their team. This vital role is centered around cost estimation, preparing bid proposals, and supporting project management for the electrical aspects of infrastructure projects. This position demands a blend of technical expertise, analytical acumen, and strong communication skills to guarantee precise and competitive project bids. Key Responsibilities: Develop and present meticulous cost estimates for electrical scopes of work by scrutinizing project drawings, specifications, and relevant documentation. Generate take-offs for electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and utility work, along with preliminary project schedules. Conduct comprehensive reviews of potential projects to evaluate feasibility, risks, and profitability. Collaborate with the project management team to harmonize project goals and strategies while compiling a project risk matrix with formulated mitigation strategies. Engage with vendors and subcontractors to request and assess bids, ensuring all estimates incorporate updated material and labor pricing. Conduct quote comparisons and offer recommendations for supplier selection. Interface with clients throughout the bidding process to clarify project requirements and adjustments, while building robust professional relationships. Deliver and elucidate project proposals to clients, designers, and operations teams. Maintain thorough documentation of all estimates, bids, and initial project specifications to promote transparency and accuracy in project initiation. Assist in managing a historical cost database, bid management, and estimating software. Qualifications: Degree in electrical or civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated experience as an Estimator. Familiarity with estimation software such as Agtek Gradework, Highway, Underground and Materials, AutoCAD, HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, and Bluebeam Revu.
