Our School is grounded in Hellenic Education, has a growing, nationally recognized, dual Greek language immersion program, the only one in the country; OCS is also proud of its innovative green initiative, community food program, and high academic outcomes. Odyssey is united in our mission to prepare lifelong learners who are culturally aware, global citizens who utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills grounded in the classical teachings of Greek education and language. This role leads schoolwide efforts related to student behavior and discipline, positive reinforcement systems, restorative practices, and the overall climate of belonging, safety, and accountability that enables students to thrive academically and socially. The Assistant Principal of Culture oversees the implementation of culturally responsive behavior systems, supports students' social-emotional development, and ensures that schoolwide norms and expectations are consistently communicated and upheld. Working closely with the Principal and leadership team, the AP of Culture ensures that school culture and climate actively support rigorous instruction and joyful learning. In addition, the Assistant Principal of Culture plays a central role in promoting Greek language use and immersion identity through daily interactions, school traditions, and cultural programming. The position also supports internal and external communication, family engagement, and community partnerships related to student life and school culture. This role is designed for a relational, culturally competent leader who is committed to building a cohesive school community and developing the leadership capacity to assume broader administrative responsibilities over time. Minimum Qualifications: Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Odyssey Charter School. Bachelor's degree in education, and an active DE License and Certification. Leadership Certification Preferred, eligible for and willingness to actively obtain. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Docs and the willingness and ability to learn programs required of the position. Demonstrated Leadership Skills in garnering support, motivating others to meet and surpass department and district-wide objectives, handling conflict using restorative practice techniques through a lens that all students can learn and have a voice. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, staff, and all Stakeholders. Proven ability to hold others accountable. Knowledgeable about formative and diagnostic assessments and research based instructional practices. Equity driven, demonstrated sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups. Superior grasp of effective instructional and behavioral methods and strategies for educating urban youth including but not limited to right brained restorative practices (trauma informed practices), culturally responsive teaching, Social Emotional Learning, grading for equity and coaching for equity. Preferred Qualifications: Leadership Certification preferred. Master's degree or higher preferred. Previous experience as an Instructional Coach, Dean, Student Advisor, or similar leader role in a K-12 environment, preferably in an immersion or foreign language program. Exceptional ability to analyze data. Bilingual or fluent in Greek preferred Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesData-Driven Instruction Analyze schoolwide culture, behavior, attendance, and climate data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Use discipline, referral, and engagement data to design proactive supports and interventions aligned with restorative practices. Collaborate with instructional leaders to examine the relationship between school culture indicators and academic outcomes. Monitor the impact of behavior systems and cultural initiatives and adjust practices based on evidence and outcomes. Feedback and Teacher Development Provide timely, actionable feedback to teachers focused on classroom culture, student engagement, and positive behavior supports. Support professional learning related to culturally responsive practices, restorative discipline, and immersion-aligned classroom environments. Coach teachers to align instructional routines with schoolwide cultural expectations and immersion norms. Partner with leadership to identify staff development needs and support continuous growth in teaching and learning conditions. Internal and External Communication Lead clear, consistent internal communication related to school culture, expectations, and student conduct. Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding student behavior, school climate, and cultural programming. Support external communication efforts that highlight the school's immersion identity, cultural events, and community engagement. Represent the school at family, community, and cultural events, fostering trust and strong stakeholder relationships. Alignment with Odyssey's Mission and Vision Model and promote Odyssey's mission, values, and Greek language immersion philosophy in all aspects of leadership. Ensure schoolwide practices reflect high expectations, inclusivity, and respect for linguistic and cultural diversity. Lead and support cultural traditions, celebrations, and service-learning initiatives that reinforce the school's identity. Collaborate with the Principal to ensure coherence between school culture, academic goals, and long-term strategic vision.
