Fort HealthCare is a patient-centered hospital and healthcare system serving individuals, businesses and families in Jefferson, Dane, and Walworth Counties, and we are seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Plant Services team. Shift: Full time 80 hours per bi-weekly pay period 1st or 3rd Shift 1st shift position requires rotating on-call, 3rd shift has no on-call responsibilities. Previous hospital maintenance experience is NOT required - We will train YOU! The Maintenance Technician evaluates, troubleshoots, maintains, and provides support for systems and operations relating to patient care and operations of the hospital and clinic environment. Responsibilities of this position include: Responsible for all systems, equipment, and assets of the physical plant, including (but not limited to) domestic water systems; electrical and generator distribution systems, building automation systems (BAS); HVAC; steam; ventilation; chilled water; basic plumbing; fire alarm/fire sprinkler system; nurse call, etc., and other related systems. Includes oversight responsibility for subcontractors working on facility systems. Completes preventative, corrective (repairs), and task related work orders as assigned. Maintains records of tasks as required by the AHJ. Includes ordering parts, contacting/communicating with vendors/subcontracotrs, and requesting vendor quotes as needed. Observes and reports the need for repairs to buildings, grounds, and equipment, which includes performing engineering rounds and operational checks. Works effectively with co-workers and other departments to find solutions for facility/departmental issues, ensuring organizational operational continuity and minimizing departmental interruptions/downtime. Assists in scheduling work force, including subcontracotrs, for effective operation of the maintenance department. As such, required to rotate on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and reasonable amounts of overtime. Acknowledges and responds to alarms and codes. Performs fire-alarm testing. Is familiar with basic life-safety and AHJ standards such as Joint Commission, DHS, and CMMS. Operates trucks, tractors, and other equipment for snow removal. Uses hand and power tools and various equipment for maintenance tasks. Occasionally requires moving equipment/furniture. Maintains all required licenses, certificates or registrations required of this position. Must posses a valid driver's license in good standing and maintain organization's insurer's requirements for coverage. Practices required infection control techniques and safe work practices. Includes required education and safety training as specified by the Safety Officer/Education Manager. Requirements of this position include: High School Diploma or GED required Maintenance or skilled trade experience preferred Boiler/HVAC experience preferred General knowledge of various systems in the hospital/commercial building field, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc. Safe, effective, and efficient maintenance practices including troubleshooting and repair. Skills in applying and executing preventative maintenance programs. Ability to effectively communicate with various staff, contractors, and external entities. Adequate knowledge of codes and regulations of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
