Salary: $21.78 - $26.14 Hourly Location : Support Services - City of Colorado Springs, CO Job Type: Classified - Full Time Job Number: 17447 Division: Support Services Department: Facilities Opening Date: 02/27/2026 Closing Date: 3/13/2026 4:00 PM Mountain FLSA: Non-Exempt Description / Position Overview Maintenance Technician II The Maintenance Technician II supports police facilities by performing a wide range of semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks. Reporting to the Support Services Division, this role focuses on ensuring the reliability and efficiency of building systems-particularly HVAC and mechanical equipment such as air handling units (AHUs), rooftop units (RTUs), fan coil units (FCUs), and variable air volume (VAV) systems. This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year, and any furloughs subsequently approved. As a Maintenance Technician II, you will: Change filters, replace belts, and verify proper belt tension. Lubricate motors and other moving components. Perform basic operational checks to ensure equipment is functioning correctly. Efficiently complete tasks using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment. Estimate time, materials, and equipment needed for assigned work; request materials as needed. Perform field inspections to ensure work quality, compliance with City standards, and adherence to approved plans. Maintain operational records and prepare reports as required. Respond to public inquiries courteously; provide information related to assignments and explain relevant City policies. Participate in on-call rotations for emergency or disaster response. Ensure compliance with safe work practices, procedures, and workplace safety standards. Review completed work for accuracy, proper technique, and adherence to applicable specifications. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate knowledge of: A technical facility maintenance discipline, with the ability to apply analytical judgment and sound decision-making appropriate to the operational environment. Basic principles and practices of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)maintenance. Standard maintenance methods and techniques used in facility operations. Proper use of equipment, materials, chemicals, and supplies commonly used in facilities maintenance. Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to building systems and maintenance work. Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field. We value a diverse range of qualifications and experiences.
