SUMMARY Responsible for producing accurate estimates for new and existing parts, propose new pricing and issue quotations to our customer. KEY CHARACTERISTICS Expected to be able to "multi-task"- handling a variety of different projects, materials and sources simultaneously. Must be able to maintain composure in a stressful environment and respond professionally to customers and co-workers while continuing to find solutions to problems. Should be able to do complex mathematical calculations to both in preparing new quotations and determining the effect of changes in parameters on the total costs of manufactured parts. The individual should use good grammar and diction when communicating either by telephone, email or voicemail. Must be computer literate with the ability to work in a variety of different operating and MRP systems. Expected to be able to function within Sur-Seal's business management software, ERP system, Microsoft Access databases, Excel, and other software, applications and Sur-Seals's POD System. The individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Works closely with the Business Development Coordinators, Purchasing and Industrial Sales Support Manager on new projects. Receives new project descriptions in the POD software, works to understand the project requirements and develops a strategy for quoting the new business. Works closely with the engineering department and helps formulate routings and manufacturing steps for new parts. Prepares quotations for new and existing parts. Consults with manager in developing strategies for pricing parts to our customers. Attends pre-production meetings wherein new parts are prepared for initial production. Helps clarify any unusual part routings and insure that documentation of the process is correct prior to first article preparation Manages new item set-up and existing item changes. Monitor the profitability of current parts and provide cost reduction ideas to help improve low margin parts. Expected to communicate the results of negotiations with the Purchasing group so that the results of their negotiation with suppliers are included in the subsequent orders for those raw materials. Expected to find alternatives for lower costs when faced with cost increases by working with the Global Sourcing Manager and Business Development Coordinators (BDCs). Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, and government requirements. Other duties as assigned by the Manager. QUALITY STANDARDS Ability to define and distinguish between quality standards, requirements, and specifications with the goal of meeting the customer's specified requirements. Ability to read and interpret drawings and ensure requirements are appropriately applied to the method of manufacturing including inspection activities. Have a basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance such as symbols, location, and profile. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to effectively present information to top management. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
