THIS POSITION IS BUDGETED FOR: $20.00 PER HOURThis is a SEASONAL (Less than 6 months) position JOB SUMMARY This position is located in the District of Columbia Board of Elections (BOE), Office of the Executive Director, Mail Ballot Processing Division, whose mission is to enfranchise eligible residents, conduct elections, and assure the integrity of the electoral process as mandated by both federal and local laws. The BOE is expanding its mission to increase civic participation and provide citizens of the District of Columbia with vital information and data for the purpose of enhancing the voter experience. The incumbents will support critical election operations through the accurate handling, processing, and verification of election-related mail. This position requires a high level of focus, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent will be responsible for processing, sorting, organizing, and preparing election-related mail for various workflows, such as vote-by-mail and absentee ballots. Conducting regular quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and compliance, and following established procedures and instructions to ensure the secure handling of all materials. The incumbent will work collaboratively with team members to complete tasks within designated timeframes, v erify ballot envelopes for completeness, including signatures and dates, assist with ballot preparation for tabulation following strict chain-of-custody rules, document ballot counts, and report irregularities or process concerns to supervisory staff. Education AND Experience Candidates should have previous experience conducting quality assurance reviews while working collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. They must have excellent listening skills, strong arithmetic skills, be highly motivated, and demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility. Licensure/Certification None Work Environment Work is primarily sedentary and performed in the normal office setting, and makes no unusual physical demands. Long hours of sitting and some standing, walking, handling, and carrying of light to moderately heavy objects ( mail trays, boxes, materials weighing up to 50 lbs., et c.) are required. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS First Screening: Wednesday, February 17, 2026 Collective Bargaining: This position is NOT under a collective bargaining agreement Tour of Duty: Monday Friday: 8:15 A.M. 4:45 P.M. (Some evenings, weekends, and holidays are required) The incumbent will be required to work an extended shift on Election Day.
