Logistics Coordinator

About the Job Summary/Objective: The role of the Logistics Coordinatoris responsible for coordinating all daily customer deliveries, which include but are not limited to truckload routing, carrier sourcing, customer delivery confirmation calls, and delivery tracking. This role is integral in managing all aspects of shipping routes and delivery, specifically regarding customer satisfaction. Essential Functions:Maintain company cost and service standards within the control of the position Review production schedules for any delivery conflicts before releasing loads to carriers Identify and prioritize freight cost savings opportunities Assign loads to the appropriate carrier based on cost, service, and availability Load assignment via the TMS Update changes in TMS Provide assigned carrier with any special load information Inform plants of carrier assignments Communicate with plants regarding any transportation issues and vice versa Monitor deliveries Contact customers to report any delays Reschedule deliveries as needed by working with customers and other departments Negotiate additional charges when applicable Other duties as assigned Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Competencies:The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced work environment with deadlines and monitored standards. Must use effective and appropriate communication skills with both internal and external customers as well as service providers. Supervisory Responsibility: N/A Work Environment: Office Physical Demands: Be able to lift 10 lbs Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full Time 40/hr Travel: Occasional travel required to other facilities across the U.S to support projects. Required Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED Education/Certification: A minimum of an Associate's Degree is preferred; a major in business or a related concentration is preferred. Required Knowledge: Must have knowledge of transportation and basic DOT rules, with a strong understanding of driver HOS. Experience Required: A minimum of 5+ years' experience in a transportation-related position is required.
