Preconstruction Executive / Director of Preconstruction - Commercial GC up to $250,000 (neg) + Bonus Your new company Our client is a well established DCbased General Contractor with roots dating back to the 1980s, operating from a modern headquarters. With a current headcount of around 60 employees and annual revenue projected to grow toward $200M they have established a strong and well rounded organizational structure. Their teams across Preconstruction, Estimating, Project Management, and Field Operations are supported by handson leadership and full in house administrative, accounting, and HR resources. The company places significant emphasis on leveraging modern technology to streamline workflows and deliver projects efficiently. Their core markets include Commercial Interiors, Education (both public and higher education), Municipal work, Multifamily, and Healthcare, delivering both newbuild and renovation projects ranging from $2M to $80M across DC, Arlington County, Fairfax County, and Prince George's County. To elevate their presence in the region, they have successfully partnered on major $100M+ projects with several toptier contractors, and they are now independently pursuing and winning projects over $70M as their reputation grows. The firm has received multiple awards for construction excellence. Your new role The firm is seeking a Preconstruction Executive or Preconstruction Director who can lead projects and have a focus on operational and leadership responsibility. This role requires someone with strong preconstruction experience who is also a strong people leader. You'll work across estimating, operations, design partners, and executive leadership to guide projects through the full preconstruction lifecycle, develop clear pricing strategies, and establish consistent internal processes. This position will also play an important role in mentoring junior staff and strengthening communication and alignment across teams. What you'll need to succeed Extensive background in preconstruction leadership within a commercial general contractor Strong understanding of field operations, construction sequencing, logistics, and means & methods Proven ability to lead and mentor crossfunctional teams including estimating, design partners, operations, and trade partners Deep experience developing conceptual, schematic, DD, and earlystage budgets with clear assumptions Skilled in running designbuild pursuits, guiding early design decisions, and aligning teams around client goals Strong communication and presentation abilities, with confidence in interacting with owners, architects, and executive leadership Experience leading design coordination, constructability reviews, value engineering, and risk identification High level of financial acumen with strong understanding of cost drivers, market conditions, escalation, and subcontractor capacity Ability to see the "big picture" and influence early project strategy, schedule alignment, and decisionmaking milestones Demonstrated leadership experience with a genuine desire to coach, develop, and elevate junior and midlevel preconstruction staff What you'll get in return Base salary $220,000 - $250,000 Negotiable on level of experience Full comprehensive benefits including 401K, PTO, Health, Vision, Dental, Bonus, Easy Pass among more.
