Job Title: Manufacturing Maintenance Planner / Scheduler Location: Milk Plant, San Leandro, CA 94577 Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM Pay Rate: $40.00 per hour Employment Type: Contract Assignment Extension: Possible Conversion to Full Time: Possible if headcount is approved Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for an indefinite duration without sponsorship or employment limitations. Position Overview We are seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Planner / Scheduler to support maintenance operations within a high-volume manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and scheduling maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment uptime and operational efficiency. The Maintenance Planner / Scheduler works closely with maintenance technicians, production teams, reliability engineers, and plant leadership to ensure that preventive and corrective maintenance activities are properly planned, staffed, and executed. This position plays a critical role in maintaining asset reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting overall production performance. Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Planning and Scheduling Utilize the CMMS system to develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule for equipment, machinery, and facility assets. Maintain full knowledge of preventive maintenance and planned workload requirements. Create and distribute weekly maintenance schedules prior to the start of each work week. Ensure scheduled work aligns with available labor hours and technician capacity. Prioritize maintenance activities based on equipment criticality, urgency, and production requirements. Maintain a backlog of work orders awaiting scheduling, including both ready and total work orders. Coordinate with maintenance technicians to ensure scheduled work is completed on time. Collaborate with production teams to confirm equipment availability and schedule maintenance windows. Prepare contingency work packages that can be executed during unplanned equipment shutdowns. Work Orders and Documentation Review maintenance requests to ensure scope of work is clearly defined. Develop detailed work orders that include task descriptions, procedures, materials required, and estimated labor time. Conduct site visits to collect drawings, manuals, and technical documentation as needed. Estimate labor, materials, and total cost associated with each maintenance task. Document completed work and update equipment maintenance histories within the CMMS system. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities to support reporting and analysis. Develop standard work order templates for recurring repair activities based on historical data. Analyze estimated versus actual labor and material costs to improve planning accuracy. Prepare and distribute maintenance reports and performance metrics. Inventory and Materials Coordination Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate replenishment as needed. Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure critical components are available. Optimize spare parts inventory to reduce costs while minimizing equipment downtime. Ensure all required materials and tools are pre-staged or kitted for scheduled maintenance tasks. Coordinate with the Parts Clerk to verify part availability. Equipment Reliability and Performance Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance history to identify reliability trends. Support implementation of preventive maintenance strategies to reduce unplanned downtime. Collaborate with reliability engineers to improve equipment performance and maintenance practices. Communication and Coordination Partner with production managers, production schedulers, and maintenance supervisors to align maintenance schedules with production needs. Communicate maintenance plans, schedule updates, and work status to stakeholders. Coordinate with external contractors when specialized maintenance support is required. Facilitate weekly maintenance planning meetings to review priorities and schedules. Safety and Compliance Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and safety regulations. Conduct risk assessments for maintenance work and implement appropriate safety precautions. Promote a strong safety culture within the maintenance organization. Performance Expectations Track and maintain records for maintenance department key performance indicators. Generate weekly and monthly KPI reports for leadership. Contribute to improvements in Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and overall equipment reliability. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred. 2 to 4 years of experience as a maintenance planner or scheduler in a manufacturing environment. Maintenance supervisory experience is a plus. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as FIIX, Maximo, EAM, PMC2000, or SAP. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment maintenance practices, and reliability principles. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Training Requirements Maintenance and Operational Reliability training. Planner and Scheduler certification or training. Training in Basic Electrical systems, Basic PLC systems, and Refrigeration Level 1. Additional Requirements Completion of Alchemy Safety Training. Required personal protective equipment will be provided by the facility.
