Overview The Engineer II coordinates the review and approval or disapproval of land development proposals including, but not limited to, plats, utility plans, stormwater quality management plans, infrastructure design plan set, and building permits for conformance with city standards. They also address general customer inquiries related to land development engineering whether in person or via phone or email. Bonus: $5,000 initial sign on bonus (external candidates only) Responsibilities Review and coordinate the processing of moderately difficult to difficult development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, ordinances, and city standards Assist in the evaluation of rezonings, site plans, variances, infrastructure, and other proposals Assist in resolving citizen and customer issues related to engineering requirements and/or reviews Prepare and present detailed reports on development proposals to owners/developers, engineers, architect, surveyors, etc. concerning the engineering plan review Prepare memos and PowerPoint presentations for variances that go to a board or commission Effectively communicate in person and by phone or email Accurately convey relevant project details to decision makers Interact with various City Departments, owners/developers, engineers, architects, surveyors, and other agencies to provide planning, project review, and execution of development projects Review and approve plans and documents Work with engineers, construction contractors, and city inspectors to define and process addendums as needed throughout construction Interpret maps, plats, and construction drawings Perform other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Two (2) years of experience Licenses and Certifications Required Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required at time of hire A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Employment Testing Employment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below: Criminal Background Check: Yes Motor Vehicle Record Check: Yes Drug Screening: Yes Physical Exam: Yes Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
