Join the AWS Infrastructure Services team, where we design, plan, deliver, and operate all aspects of AWS global infrastructure. Our mission is to ensure that the cloud runs smoothly, supporting AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that our customers depend on. We are tackling complex challenges with numerous variables affecting the supply chain, and we are searching for skilled individuals eager to make an impact. As a Data Center Construction Project Manager, you will collaborate with a talented and diverse team, integrating software, hardware, network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Your role will involve maintaining the highest safety and security standards while providing exceptional value to our customers. In this position, you will oversee the construction of Amazon's Data Centers, ensuring they exemplify energy-efficient and cost-effective design. You will work closely with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams to construct facilities that cater to our customer needs. As a key leader, you will be present on the construction site daily, representing Amazon and ensuring successful management of vendors and contractors. You will be accountable for project cost, schedule, and quality. Key Responsibilities: Interface directly with construction general contractors throughout all phases of project development, including bidding, execution, and final closeout. Negotiate contract terms and assess bids/proposals with precision. Draft project scope and requests for proposals for construction work. Conduct financial analyses to guide construction projects strategically. Manage specific initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience and efficiency of data centers. Review and assess the constructability of mechanical and electrical designs for new builds and optimization projects. Maintain and oversee construction documentation such as submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing. Enforce quality control throughout construction activities. Track and report critical construction metrics to ensure transparency and communication across teams. Champion troubleshooting and analysis for equipment failures, driving teams to find root causes. Take a leadership role within both internal and external teams supporting the data center initiatives. Basic Qualifications: Proven experience in defining data center system-level architecture and managing large-scale construction projects. Background in the design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field plus 5 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM). Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with a strong grasp of electrical and mechanical infrastructure. Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to safety and compliance. Understanding of electrical engineering concepts including switchgear, UPS systems, transformers, and circuit breakers.
