Job Summary: The Night Attendant in Housekeeping is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces during the overnight shift. This role ensures that all housekeeping tasks are completed to the highest standards, contributing to guest satisfaction and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The Night Attendant will also support the Housekeeping Department by responding to guest requests, assisting with laundry, and preparing rooms for the next day’s guests. They will work independently during the night shift and ensure that the hotel remains clean, safe, and ready for the morning operations. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Guest Room & Public Area Cleaning: Perform deep cleaning and maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, hallways, and back-of-house spaces as required during the overnight shift. Clean guest rooms, including making beds, replacing linens, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and dusting furniture and surfaces. Ensure that all hotel areas, including hallways, lobbies, and elevators, are cleaned and well-maintained. Check the condition of rooms and report any maintenance issues (e.g., broken furniture, lighting problems) to the appropriate department. Laundry Support: Assist with laundering towels, linens, and other hotel fabrics during the night shift. Ensure laundry is handled, folded, and stored according to hotel standards. Maintain proper inventory of clean linen and communicate low stock levels to the Housekeeping Supervisor. Guest Requests & Assistance: Respond to guest requests for additional towels, pillows, toiletries, or other items during the overnight shift. Ensure that any special guest needs or preferences are addressed promptly, ensuring guest satisfaction. Support the Housekeeping team by providing assistance with guestroom inspections and preparing rooms for check-ins the following morning. Security and Safety: Conduct regular rounds of the hotel, ensuring that all public and guest areas are clean, safe, and secure. Assist in maintaining safety by ensuring that all housekeeping closets and storage areas are properly locked and secured. Report any safety hazards, spills, or issues to management immediately. Team Collaboration & Communication: Communicate with the Housekeeping Supervisor or Night Manager regarding any cleaning challenges or guest requests. Document any important information or guest requests in the housekeeping log for continuity across shifts. Work closely with the housekeeping team to ensure all areas are covered and properly cleaned by the end of the shift. Stock Management: Ensure that housekeeping carts are stocked with the necessary supplies for guestroom cleaning. Report low supply levels and assist in maintaining the inventory of cleaning materials and guestroom amenities. Restock and organize housekeeping closets to ensure items are easily accessible and neatly stored. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar role is preferred, but not required. Experience in hospitality is an advantage. Skills/Specialized Knowledge Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Good communication skills and the ability to understand guest requests. Ability to handle housekeeping equipment (vacuums, cleaning supplies, etc.) safely and efficiently. Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures. Physical Demands Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, including cleaning supplies and laundry. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for long periods during the shift. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
