Join a Team That Inspires Growth & Builds ResilienceNew Horizon Community Care's Therapeutic Recreation Program is seeking dedicated Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) and Para Professionals to support youth experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges.Our vision is to inspire and nurture growth through a dynamic after-school program that bridges physical activity, emotional expression, and creative engagement to promote holistic well-being. About the ProgramThis structured, clinically informed program uses therapeutic recreation, movement-based activities, educational groups, CBT-based interventions, and therapeutic art to help participants: Develop healthy relationships and social skills Improve communication Strengthen emotional regulation and resilience Build self-esteem and confidence The program provides a safe, supportive environment where youth can explore emotions, build coping skills, and practice teamwork and positive health habits. Treatment duration ranges from 3–6 months based on individualized treatment plans.Therapeutic recreation bridges physical, emotional, and creative skills to help participants meet treatment goals while building confidence and life skills. Position Responsibilities Provide active supervision to ensure client safety Facilitate BHT groups and skill-building activities Implement CBT-based interventions and coping strategies Support therapeutic recreational and art-based programming Assist with case management and documentation Conduct client check-in and check-out procedures Participate in crisis intervention when necessary Collaborate with clinical and program staff Follow and maintain the daily program schedule Model healthy behaviors, teamwork, and sportsmanship Understand and support individual treatment goals This is a highly engaging role requiring active participation in recreational activities and consistent role modeling. Must Haves Must meet the minimum state licensing requirements for Behavioral Health Technicians or Para Professionals Must be at least 21 years of age High School Diploma or GED Experience working with at-risk or behavioral health populations (youth, teens, or adults) Valid Arizona Driver's License with no restrictions Must maintain a driving record that allows insurability under NHCC's insurance carriers Must be able to complete Criminal History Self-Disclosure Affidavits Must be able to obtain an Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Unrestricted Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, which includes State and Federal criminal background checks Salary$23.00 – $27.00 per hour Compensation is based on education and experience in the behavioral health field.
