Collections Manager Location: Northwest Suburbs of Chicago Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 base salary (depending on experience) Employment Type: Full time Work Model: Onsite or hybrid (varies by organization) Position Overview The Collections Manager is responsible for leading the accounts receivable and collections function to ensure timely payment, strong cash flow, and effective risk management. This role oversees daily collections activity, manages and develops the collections team, and partners cross functionally with internal stakeholders to resolve issues while maintaining positive customer relationships. This position is well suited for a hands on collections leader who can balance operational execution with team leadership and process improvement. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage daily collections activities to ensure past due accounts are addressed in a timely and professional manner Lead, coach, and develop the collections team, including setting performance expectations and monitoring results Develop, implement, and maintain collections strategies, policies, and procedures to improve cash flow and reduce days sales outstanding (DSO) Review accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts based on risk and exposure Handle escalated or complex collection issues, disputes, and negotiations Partner with sales, customer service, and finance teams to resolve billing discrepancies and payment delays Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations Prepare and present regular reporting on collections performance, trends, and potential risks Support month end and quarter end close processes related to accounts receivable Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce bad debt Qualifications Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Proven experience in accounts receivable or collections, with prior leadership or supervisory experience Strong understanding of credit and collections best practices Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment Strong analytical skills with attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems Preferred Qualifications Experience managing collections in a high volume or complex environment Hands on experience with ERP or accounts receivable systems CPA, MBA, or related professional certification Key Competencies Leadership and team development Problem solving and sound decision making Customer focused mindset Results driven with strong follow through Professional judgment and discretion Compensation & Benefits Base salary range of $70,000 - $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications Comprehensive benefits package, which may include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and company holidays 401(k) retirement plan with company match Short term and long term disability coverage Life insurance Employee assistance and wellness programs Benefits offerings may vary by employer and role Equal Opportunity Employer The company is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing a workplace free from discrimination.
