This critical role requires a physician with extensive experience in clinical practice, education, and research. The ideal candidate will define the strategic vision for the surgical department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based healthcare while fostering excellence in academic and research activities. Collaboration with senior leadership, including the Chancellor and Executive Dean, will be crucial in enhancing the department's educational structure, supporting resident training programs, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities encompass overseeing financial management, hospital operations, and advancing community outreach to enhance both the department's and institution's reputation. Qualified applicants must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, hold board certification in surgery, and maintain a current medical school appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level. A minimum of 10 years of clinical practice is required, with a strong preference for candidates showcasing at least 3 years of leadership experience in an academic medical environment. The successful candidate will exhibit a history of scholarly achievements, demonstrate the ability to successfully acquire grant funding, and align with the institution's values.
