THE MERIT SYSTEM AND THE PERSONNEL COMMISSION The San Mateo County Office of Education has utilized the Merit System since 1966 to ensure that classified employees are selected, promoted and retained without favoritism or prejudice. The Personnel Commission oversees a Civil Service (Merit) System of personnel management for San Mateo County Office of Education employees. The Merit System is a method of personnel management which is designed to promote the efficiency and economy of the workforce and the good of the public by providing for the selection and retention of employees, promotional opportunities, in-service training, and other related matters on the basis of merit, fitness, and the principle of "like pay for like work." Job Summary THIS IS NOT A SAN MATEO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION JOB OPPORTUNITY. THIS POSITION WILL BE SUPPORTING THE SAN MATEO COUNTY SCHOOLS INSURANCE GROUP, WHICH IS AN AFFILIATE GROUP OF SMCOE San Mateo County Schools Insurance Group, a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) serving public school districts, is currently accepting applications for a Property/Liability Claim Analyst. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Minimum of five (5) years public-sector insurance claims experience and/or Property & Casualty Insurance. Experience working with Third Party Administrators (TPAs); public-sector, JPA, or governmental risk pool experience is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of claims management principles, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, settlement, litigation management, and alternative dispute resolution. Understanding of school district operations and risk exposures, including student-related claims, employment and campus liability. Strong negotiation, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills. Ability to manage complex, high-exposure claims with a high degree of technical competence and attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
