Histology Technician (HT)

Description Under general supervision of the Histology/Cytology Manager or General Lab Management, Wellstar Health System Laboratory and direct supervision of the Histotechnology Supervisor or Lab Manager, the Histologic Technologist is responsible for the complete preparation of all routine surgicals, autopsy tissues including frozen section, sendout procedures, processing, cutting, staining and coverslipping. Also performs cytology preparation, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry (Antibody optimizing and validation) and have general knowledge of techniques, principles, instrumentation and troubleshooting abilities. Confirms and distribute completed surgical cases and reports, some clerical duties involving filing, retrieving tumor and consult requests, and have full knowledge of regulatory policies. Requirement All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Histotechnician 1 year experience Day Shift: M-F 5:00am-1:30pm Histotech certification. Non-gyn cytology experience preferred. Pewter gray scrubs.
