Maintenance Technician

Job Description Cardinal Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Technician to support daily plant operations at our clients Romulus, MI facility. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on production machinery, equipment, and facility systems to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation. Shift: 2nd shift, training on days Pay: $28-30 BOE Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on production machines, tools, and facility systems. Maintain, install, and repair motors, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, PLC-controlled equipment, and foam-production machinery. Respond to machine breakdowns quickly to minimize downtime. Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and equipment diagrams. Assist with equipment upgrades, machine rebuilds, and process improvements. Document all maintenance activities and parts used in the CMMS system. Follow all MIOSHA and company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO). Support production teams with technical questions and equipment needs. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance work area. Qualifications 2-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (automotive/foam industry preferred). Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills. Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and fabrication is a plus. Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints. Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, and automated equipment preferred. Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work on feet for extended periods, and safely use hand/power tools. Must be reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a team. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification preferred. Work Environment & Schedule Manufacturing environment with machinery, noise, and moving equipment. May require overtime, weekends, and on-call rotation depending on production needs. PPE required: safety glasses, steel-toed boots, gloves, hearing protection, and additional gear as needed.
