Certified Surgical Tech - Moundville, Alabama

A surgical technician position is available in Moundville, AL, supporting cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) procedures. This contract role involves working primarily during the day, Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 pm, with participation in emergency call rotation every third week for a duration of seven days. The primary focus will be assisting with open heart surgeries, but the technician will also support other surgical specialties as needed. Key Responsibilities: Provide skilled intraoperative assistance under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in the CVOR setting. Maintain high standards of nursing practice while fostering positive therapeutic relationships with patients and their families. Assist in the preparation and management of surgical instruments and supplies, specifically for open heart and other surgical procedures. Encourage collaboration and support among team members to enhance patient care outcomes. Participate in emergency on-call rotation as scheduled. Qualifications and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification and training including completion of College Anatomy and Physiology I course, OR certification as a Central Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT), OR completion of a hospital-approved Surgical Tech certificate course. Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or Red Cross certification. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a surgical technician, with at least 1 year of recent experience in the cardiovascular or related specialty; candidates with 18 months of experience working under a professional license will be considered.
