Posting Details Position Information Job Title Director Academic and Career Success Center Nature of Work Oversee the operation of the Academic and Career Success Center (ACSC), a comprehensive academic and career support unit that includes: academic advising/coaching, academic interventions/early alerts, retention outreach, peer education, writing assistance, career development of students, relationship development with employers to expand student career experiences, securing experiential learning/cooperative education opportunities; and developing new programs to support students' academic and career success. Accountable for the ACSC budget, overall vision, and leadership for the unit. Provides innovative planning, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of student success and related academic and career support services. Examples of Work Performed Plan, implement, and evaluate the functions, services, programs, and activities of the Academic and Career Success Center. Play a key role in the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of student success initiatives (such as peer tutoring, early alert programs, academic and career coaching, supplemental instruction, Buffett Scholars, experiential learning and internship opportunities, career-related programming, trainings, workshops, and other learning and retention services). Ensures all programs align with institutional priorities, respond to evolving student needs, and are equitably accessible to students across all locations and instructional modalities. Assist with implementing college strategic priorities related to student success, retention, and completion and participate and assume team leadership roles in campus special projects and initiatives as needed. Effectively coordinate academic advising services across units responsible for academic advising. Provide leadership for registration events in collaboration with the office of admissions and coordinate with appropriate offices to establish cohesive first-year student support, transitions between registration, orientation, advising, and career programming. Design, implement, and evaluate experiential learning opportunities, internship program, and career advising services for students and prospective students that include career information, exploration, and assessment as well as a clarification of life goals and the development of an educational/career plan. Maintain an advising caseload and meet regularly with students to provide academic advising, career coaching, and facilitate skill-development to support students in achieving academic and career success. Establish connections with relevant campus constituencies, alumni and employers to provide academic and career pathways for students and map undergraduate and graduate programming, recruiting and career opportunities. Contribute to the effort to initiate, maintain, and grow relationships with employers to expand experiential learning/ cooperative education host sites, on-campus recruiting, and participation in business and community-development events such as career fairs. Stay current on changing workforce and career information including salaries, training requirements, job prospects, industry trends, and best practices. Plan, implement, and administer a yearly graduate survey. Instruct course(s) related to academic and career coaching up to 6 credit hours per semester. Supervise direct reports, including evaluating performance and identifying professional development and growth opportunities. Occasional travel that may be outside core office hours. Other duties assigned. Required Qualifications Master's Degree Minimum three (3) years of professional work experience in academic support services or related field Preferred Qualifications Five or more years of related experience in academic support in higher education Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of best practices in support services in higher education Demonstrated supervisory experience and team-building skills A working understanding of case management software and CRM and/or database systems (such as Handshake, Salesforce, BGI).
