Job Summary As a Lifeguard for the City, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of pool patrons by preventing and effectively responding to all emergencies. Essential Job Functions and Other Important DutiesEnsure the safety of facility patrons by strictly but courteously enforcing all pool rules and regulations. Interact with and educate the public about safety concerns. Performs with extreme prudence, emergency service by rescuing, resuscitating, or administering first aid as required. Attend mandatory in-service training and perform all lifesaving skills as required. Assist in maintaining the pool, deck, and entire facility in a safe and sanitary condition Other duties as assigned Job QualificationsAmerican Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or be able to successfully complete the course within 1 month of employment. Must be at least 15 years old at the time of employment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed & Environmental Factors and Other Physical Requirements Visual and auditory sensory perception. Excellent swimming skills to include rescue techniques. During rescue operations or training will be required to lift, carry, pull and/or push a person, with assistance if needed. Frequent sitting or standing Constant alert and careful viewing of pool Occasional strenuous physical activity, including carrying, pulling, pushing, dragging, and holding up to 30 lbs. of furniture/equipment. Exposure to large crowds, noises and extreme temperature variations possible.
